Major Appointments to Drive Growth at Protegic

Protegic, a leading Australian ICT project management specialist has appointed two experienced business and ICT executives to help it deliver exponential growth and greater geographical reach.

Neil Gamble has been appointed chairman of the Protegic Advisory Board and David Thompson has joined as general manager sales and marketing. Protegic has 35 staff based in Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia with an operation in New South Wales currently being established.

For the past 20 years, Neil Gamble has been CEO and an executive director of major companies including a Greg Norman/Great White Shark Enterprises joint venture with Macquarie Bank, the Solution 6 Group, Star City Holdings, Australis Media and Wormald International Group. His current roles include chairman/investor in Ryarc Media, a global supplier of digital signage software, and chairman of South Pacific Private Hospital.

David Thompson's most recent position was vice president Asia Pacific for software vendor AXS-One, where he successfully took the company from one that was primarily maintenance focused to one that achieved significant licence revenue growth. He also established a marked Asian presence with offices in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India and Taiwan.

Prior to joining AXS-One, Mr Thompson was managing director of IXOS Software Australia, taking the organisation from a start-up to a highly successful business with clients that included many of Australia's blue chip companies. His other business success was as southern region director for SAP, where he was responsible for starting and building SAP's business in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

Protegic's managing director, Greg Ward, said the company has been very successful in its formative years and had come through the global financial crisis in an even stronger position.

”Protegic is now poised for exponential growth. This requires specialist expertise and will see us take advantage of the experience and calibre of people such as Neil Gamble and David Thompson, who will guide us through the next phase of our growth," Mr Ward said.

"Both executives are well known and highly respected across Asia Pacific. They are also well connected in the broader business community."

In addition to these recent appointments, Protegic has relocated a director, Matthew Katakis, from Melbourne to Singapore, who will seek to expand the company's presence in the ASEAN region.

Protegic's customer base includes medium to large organisations within the government, mining and resources, defence, health, finance, infrastructure, manufacturing and services sectors.
